Ride On
Honoring rodeo roots and western spirit every day
Save The Date:
Friday June 12 & Saturday June 13, 2026
The Flying U Rodeo and Productions will produce a PRCA Pro Rodeo scheduled to take place at The Merced County Fairgrounds at 7:00 PM.
Professional rodeo competitions typically feature the following events:
1. Bareback Riding: Riders must stay on a bucking horse for 8 seconds while holding onto a leather rigging with one hand.
2. Saddle Bronc Riding: Like bareback riding, but riders use a saddle and must synchronize their movements with the horse's bucking.
3. Bull Riding: Contestants attempt to stay on a bucking bull for 8 seconds, using only one hand to hold on.
4. Steer Wrestling (Bulldogging): Cowboys chase and wrestle a steer to the ground in the fastest time possible.
5. Tie-Down Roping: Riders rope a calf, dismount, and tie three of its legs together as quickly as possible.
6. Team Roping: Two riders work together - one (the header) ropes the steer's horns or neck, while the other (the heeler) ropes the hind legs.
7. Barrel Racing: Typically, a women's event where riders navigate a cloverleaf pattern around three barrels as fast as possible.
8. Breakaway Roping: A timed event where riders rope a calf around the neck, with the rope breaking away from the saddle horn to stop the clock.
